Informed Consent Workshop for Data Sharing IN-PERSON EVENT
Event box

The Auditorium, Ground Floor, McClay Library. In-Person training.
In this session, we will explore critical aspects related to obtaining informed consent from research participants and responsible data sharing practices. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or just starting your academic journey, understanding these principles is essential for ethical and transparent research.
This is a practical workshop for PGRs that will discuss informed consent in the context of sharing your research data e.g. survey results, transcripts of interviews or focus groups or quotations from participants, even audio or video recordings.
Informed consent is an ethical requirement for research conducted with people and must be considered and implemented throughout the research lifecycle, from planning to publication to sharing.
Participants need to participate voluntarily in research, and understand what the research will involve, what data will be collected and how these data will be used, especially if they may reveal identities. Informed consent is an explicit requirement for any interventional procedures, such as medical research.
Failure to properly address issues of informed consent may restrict the opportunities for initial collection and subsequent use of data.
The specific focus of this workshop will be on data sharing and ensuring that your participant information sheets, and consent forms are appropriate for the data that will share at the end.
If you plan to undertake research with human participants, it is strongly encouraged that you attend this new workshop. Places are limited. It is an IN-PERSON event.
